A few weeks ago, my parents, some of my sisters, and I cleaned out an old storage building at my parents’ old house. We found baby albums, tons of family photos, and the big win of the day was not when I found a few dozen vintage sewing patterns, but when I found my granny’s wedding ring, which we thought had been lost 15 years ago. I cried, my mom cried, we were thrilled.

Back to the vintage patterns, though. Could they be any cuter? Here are some photos of my current favorites. Very Mad Men. I haven’t gone through them to make sure all the pattern pieces are there, but I’m already struggling about whether or not I should sell them on Etsy. They aren’t my size now, but I am losing weight, so maybe I can make some for myself in another six months. What I see of the construction of the garment is very interesting – one is a wrap-around, but it wraps in the back, not the front. It’s so cool to see how things were made back then.

I can picture myself sewing these with Ella, listening to Ella Fitzgerald, and then wearing them out for martinis. So, what do you think? Sell or keep?

keep.
Of course you would say that, sister. You just want me to make one for you!
Besides you may need them for a movie wardrobe one day
True, you never know
keep, keep, keep! Even if not to make for yourself, perhaps for others in your family? Or perhaps just keep a few faves anyway:-)
btw, congrats on finding the ring! How wonderfully exciting!!
Yes, very. I thought all this time that I was the one who lost it, so I was incredibly happy to be the one to find it.
Keep! Nearly irreplaceable… and you know people will want them any time you WANT to sell them…
Seriously little sis, if you dare list those on Etsy, I’ll have to buy them. They are so cool…did you know that I have some of grandma’s old patterns. I think this is a cool family find.
WAY TO GO finding those rings! You literally found the world’s smallest needle in the world’s largest haystack!
Love you!
