DIY: Sew a Drawstring Bag

Last week, I launched the first three videos (here, here, and here) in my First Steps series for beginning sewists. This week, I wanted to take a break from the basics and get into a sewing project that is fun and easy for any sewing skill level. In this video, I show you how to make a simple drawstring bag out of one piece of fabric and a few pieces of ribbon.

This technique can be used to make a drawstring bag in any shape and size. Use them for gift bags, makeup bags, quilt bags, or simply little bags to help keep your purse organized.

Did I mention this tutorial will show you how to make French seams? Well, prepare yourself, because they are so much easier than you would expect.

Enjoy!

That’s so great! I love finding out that someone actually made one of my patterns. There are more quick and easy projects coming soon – I promise :-)
