Kate at See Kate Sew is hosting a clutch-along. I’m participating because it seems like a lot of fun and then I have an awesome envelope clutch at the end. I’ve always wanted to participate in an online sew-along like this, but I never hear about them in time or I’m too late and miss them altogether.
A while back, I found this Amy Butler pillow sham at a Ross on sale for only $4! I had to buy it knowing that I would take it apart and use the beautiful embroidered fabric for something wonderful. I’ve come very close to using it for a couple of different projects, but I’m glad I didn’t because I think it’s perfect for the envelope clutch.
You can find the pattern and instructions at See Kate Sew. As for the supplies, there’s not much to it.
- 1/2 yard fabric (or 1 fat quarter)
- 1/2 yard lining (or 1 fat quarter)
- 1/2 yard midweight fusible interfacing
- 1 button, any size
Kate even put together a tutorial on using a buttonhole attachment, so if you’re nervous about that step, you really don’t have to be.
The clutch-along ends March 4th and Kate will pick some clutches to feature on her website. Be sure to post a photo of your clutch in the Flickr group.
You really should join in the fun. Everyone’s doing it. You know you want to.

Wow! GORGEOUS fabric, and the perfect project for it! Came looking for a pattern like this for a light bag for graduation. Thanks!
