When I was a young girl, I would stand very still while my granny, with straight pins between her lips, would make small adjustments to whatever dress she was making for me that Easter. I loved watching her and my mother sew. Later, they began to teach me all manner of things – from cross stitch to embroidery to smocking to sewing.
As years went by, my fervor for sewing waxed around the holidays when Halloween costumes or Christmas decorations needed to me made and waned around the summer months when I preferred to be outside. A year and a half ago, a good friend of mine decided she wanted to learn to sew and quilt. I had never quilted before, so even though I already knew the sewing part, I joined her and some other friends and we all learned how to quilt. Since then, I’ve become slightly obsessed and have dedicated the majority of my free-time to sewing.
Around the beginning of this year, I discovered the wealth of information available on the interwebs and have benefited from some amazing blogs and tutorials created by amazing and crafty women. I decided that I’d like to be a part of that community, so I created Darling Adventures.
I hope you enjoy what I have to offer and I welcome your comments, suggestions and links.
